In this paper, we examine two of them, the first being given by b(G) = |E(G)|/|V (G)|, and the other being given by g(G) = |E(G)|/(|V (G)| − ω(G)), where ω(G) denotes the number of components of G. Graphs for which b(H) ≤ b(G) for all subgraphs H of G are called balanced graphs, and graphs for which g(H) ≤ g(G) for all subgraphs H of G are called 1-balanced graphs (also sometimes called strongly balanced or uniformly dense in the literature). Although the functions b and g are very similar, they distinguish classes of graphs sufficiently differently that b(G) is useful in studying random graphs, g(G) has been useful in designing networks with reduced vulnerability to attack and in studying the World Wide Web, and a similar function is useful in the study of rigidity. First we give a new characterization of balanced graphs. Then we introduce a graph construction which generalizes the Cartesian product of graphs to produce what we call a generalized Cartesian product. We show that generalized Cartesian product derived from a tree and 1-balanced graphs are 1-balanced, and we use this to prove that the generalized Cartesian products derived from 1-balanced graphs are 1-balanced.

Remarks on Distance-Balanced Graphs
Distance-balanced graphs are introduced as graphs in which every edge uv has the following property: the number of vertices closer to u than to v is equal to the number of vertices closer to v than to u. Basic properties of these graphs are obtained. In this paper, we study the conditions under which some graph operations produce a distance-balanced graph.
متن کاملLower Bound Theorems and a Generalized Lower Bound Conjecture for balanced simplicial complexes
A (d − 1)-dimensional simplicial complex is called balanced if its underlying graph admits a proper d-coloring. We show that many well-known face enumeration results have natural balanced analogs (or at least conjectural analogs). Specifically, we prove the balanced analog of the celebrated Lower Bound Theorem for normal pseudomanifolds and characterize the case of equality; we introduce and ch...
متن کاملDistance-Balanced Closure of Some Graphs
In this paper we prove that any distance-balanced graph $G$ with $Delta(G)geq |V(G)|-3$ is regular. Also we define notion of distance-balanced closure of a graph and we find distance-balanced closures of trees $T$ with $Delta(T)geq |V(T)|-3$.
متن کاملApplication of n-distance balanced graphs in distributing management and finding optimal logistical hubs
Optimization and reduction of costs in management of distribution and transportation of commodity are one of the main goals of many organizations. Using suitable models in supply chain in order to increase efficiency and appropriate location for support centers in logistical networks is highly important for planners and managers. Graph modeling can be used to analyze these problems and many oth...
متن کاملA note on vague graphs
In this paper, we introduce the notions of product vague graph, balanced product vague graph, irregularity and total irregularity of any irregular vague graphs and some results are presented. Also, density and balanced irregular vague graphs are discussed and some of their properties are established. Finally we give an application of vague digraphs.
متن کاملOn Balancedness of Some Graph Constructions
Let G be a graph with vertex set V(G) and edge set E(G), and let A = {O, I}. A labeling f: V(G) ~ A induces a partial edge labeling f* : E(G) ~ A defined by f*(xy) = f(x), if and only if f(x) = fey), for each edge xy E E(G). For i E A, let vrt:i) = card{v E V(G): ftv) = i} and ep(i) = card{e E E(G): f*(e) i}. A labeling f ofa graph G is said to be friendly if I vrt:O) vrt: I) 1 s: I. If 1 ep(O)...
